Full-Lifecycle Agile Development: What's Wrong with Agile Development? Dr Ashley Aitken, Curtin University of Technology
April 4th, Seminar room 1.24
Abstract
This talk will discuss what the author believes was the thinking behind the introduction of agile development and what is wrong with the current form of agile development. The talk will propose and explain an alternative form of development, still agile, but with a full-lifecycle focus and involving more tool support. This proposal forms the basis of a new research project that will initially focus on providing a Web-based environment for software development that can be used in teaching.
Biography Dr Aitken has a BSc Hons (Physics) from UWA, an MSc Preliminary (Computer Science) from the University of Melbourne, and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of New South Wales. He is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Systems at Curtin University of Technology and is currently on sabbatical in the School of CSSE at UWA. His research interests include object orientation, software engineering, and Enterprise software systems development, particularly the architectureand design of such systems. As well as working in academia, he has worked for over seventeen years as a consultant, developer, and professional trainer in industry (around Australia, across South/East Asia and in the US and UK). He is also keen to talk to anyone interested in being involved in the new research project that will be discussed in the seminar.
