How Research Skills Help Me to Succeed in the Nonacademic World

Abstract

This talk discusses the author’s experience in working in the nonacademic world.  The author will share how research and analytical skills that she acquires throughout the course of her PhD can transfer to a work environment outside academia.  Her strong academic background in Computer Science especially is beneficial for bringing and tuning IT edge to improve the overall business process (supply-chain) of the company she work’s for.

Biography

Winnie Louis Lee received a PhD in Computer Science from UWA.   Shortly after completing her PhD in 2007, she joined PT Bukit Jaya Abadi, a premier Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning (EPCC) Company in Indonesia, as Advisor for Information Technology Division and Business Development Division.  She currently is the Deputy Director of Strategic Development of the company.
