Remote Immersive Diagnostic Examination System (RIDES):

A CSIRO tele-health project

Chris Gunn, CSIRO

15 April 1pm, Seminar Room 1.24

Abstract

This technology facilitates the guidance of a technician by an expert over a network connection. It attempts to join two physical spaces, whilst maintaining the reletive positioning of the people and objects. The goals are to provide a natural interaction between the participants, encompassing multiple video streams, data sharing, pointing and drawing onto shared documents and video as well as into the real world. Tactile guidance of hand motions has also been investigated. The system has been trialled in tele-health for the examination of patients but could equally be applied to other domains such as manufacturing and engineering.
