Title: Shape from Shading - Mathematical Methods.

Abstract:

The shape-from-shading problem consists of extracting an unknown surface from its image shading. Recent developments in the mathematical methods applied to shape-from-shading are presented. Different numerical approaches in solving this problem are described and compared. The Orthographic and Perspective projection shape reconstruction methods are discussed. For Orthographic projection the case n = 2 is considered, whereas for Perspective projection the case n = 1 is discussed.
