11am Friday 17th October, 2003
Computer Science & Software Engineering
Seminar Room 1.24
Abstract:
Autonomy is a technology developed out of
the University of Cambridge. The technology is capable of creating
patterns out of text, voice, images and video. From these patterns
Autonomy is unique in being able to a provide a wide variety of uses
from: locating a piece of research or document through to measuring
plagiarism in examination papers! As Autonomy builds up patterns on
what users view the technology is then able to alert people to
personalised information; to identify the expert in answering
questions; to build and identify people with similar interests
(communities); through to managing information flow and providing an
auto-response mechanism for enquiries.
As a result of this breadth of use, the people who will find this
technology to be useful are likely to encompass all at UWA. However
those who may benefit even more include researchers, administrators,
librarians, HR, lecturers and even the students....
