The Languages of the .NET Framework

Abstract:

In the world of modern OO programming there are two arch rivals, Java and .NET. This presentation looks at one of these, namely the .NET Framework, and the languages that it supports. There will also be some discussion on the future directions of the .NET framework, support for mobile applications and the implications that web services will have on application development.


Brief Bio:
Nick is currently the Development Manager for AutumnCare Systems, a startup company located in Western Australia. After graduating from a combined IT/Commerce degree, Nick went on to be nominated as a Microsoft MVP in recognition of his work with the local .NET user group and his focus on mobile devices. As an active member of the local IT community Nick is on the WA committee for both the Engineers Australia and the Australian Computer Society. In addition to his experience with a range of technologies, Nick has also co-founded two companies and has assisted a number of other startups in his previous role at Software Engineering Australia.
