‘Finding Research Funding & Building a Research Track Record’ workshop Breaking into the Australian research funding system is a daunting prospect for researchers at the beginning of their careers. This workshop advises on strategies for building a track record in research which will help Early Career Researchers (ECRs) become competitive in the system. Part one of the workshop, which examines the strategies of some of UWA’s most prolific grant winners, aims to assist you in developing a planned approach to your research career. The ARC and NHMRC grant schemes are not the only sources of research funding and may not be the most appropriate for all staff. There are thousands of research grant opportunities available to Australian researchers. Part two of the workshop provides tools to enable you to actively seek research funding. Participants will be familiarised with Research Service’s website, the Australian Competitive Grants register, the Community of Science (COS) Funding Opportunities database, and will be advised on how to effectively navigate a funding agency’s website. The final part of the workshop presents a variety of funding opportunities, from grants targeted specifically at ECRs to ones open to all researchers; from Australian competitive research grants to private organisations and charitable foundations. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion. Presenter: Dr Judy Berman (Research Development Officer, Research Services) Date: Friday 12th May Time: 11-12 Venue: Seminar Room 1.24 The Research Development Officers will be available to critically review and provide assistance to those submitting grant applications. |
