Undergraduate majors offered by the School from 2008

From 2008 the School of Computer Science & Software Engineering will offer four new majors in the Bachelor of Computer Science and the Bachelor of Computer and Mathermatical Sciences,

and a single new major in the Bachelor of Science,

The majors are suitable for anyone contemplating a career in the engineering and development of software systems across a wide range of application domains.

  • CITS3200 Professional Computing - Semester 2 only, and
  • the three (3) units from the appropriate lists (units in each major are listed below)

To complete a double major, a student must undertake and pass

  • CITS3200 Professional Computing - Semester 2 only, and
  • the three (3) units from one list, and
  • the three (3) units from another list and one (1) other unit from any of the lists offered by our School.

No unit may be counted towards more than one major.

Systems Major

The Systems major focuses on software systems and their function, with emphasis on databases and networking systems. The units are:

  • CITS3230 Computer Networks - Semester 1
  • CITS3231 Security and Privacy - Semester 2
  • CITS3240 Databases - Semester 1
