Computer Vision

Computer vision is a branch of artificial intelligence which aims to extract intelligent information about the three dimensional world from two dimensional images.

It is useful because imaging is non-destructive, fast, cheap and widely available. Imaging techniques are not limited to conventional photography, but the Computer Vision group has a major interest with data acquired from laser scanners.

Other biometrics that are actively being researched include fingerprints, human ear patterns and palm prints.

Current projects

  • Marker-less 3D Pose Estimation
  • Vision for Security
  • Integration of Spatiotemporal Video Data for Real-time Surveillance.
