Opportunity to participate in Creation of a
New Police Crime-Fighting Tool
Supersoftware (International) Pty Ltd is a
Western Australia software development company which has developed the
world's first 3D vehicle identikit system called IVIS.
IVIS is a software system containing highly detailed 3 dimensional
computer models of cars for use in the identification of wanted
vehicles and provides police with a formalised process (similar to
face reconstruction) to assist a witness in identifying a vehicle used
in a crime.
This process instantly leads to the creation of a life-like 3D
computer model of the vehicle, and the system includes the ability for
police to customise a vehicle by adding an entire range of vehicle
optional parts including wheels, spoilers and body kits, plus the
ability to add realistic features such as dents, rust, pin-striping
and bumper stickers.
The system has already successfully assisted WA and NSW Police in
Homicide investigations and is a significant new tool which sets the
world's best policing practice for visual vehicle identification.
The opportunity exists for students with 3D computer model making
skills to participate in this project by creating a 3D object for
inclusion in the database. You can choose your level of
participation, from modeling a simple spoiler or wheel, right thru to
modeling a complete car from a laser scan mesh.
Supersoftware will provide a letter to participants who complete
effective work for use in a CV and the person who provides the best
computer model will win $250 to go towards their next computer
peripheral purchase or software magazine subscription.
