Research Seminar - July 16, 2004

Network Management in Wireless Sensor Networks

Time: 11am Friday July 16

Computer Science & Software Engineering

Seminar Room 1.24

Speaker:
Winnie Benny (PhD Student)

Abstract:

Wireless sensor networks of co-operating, small, low-cost micro-processors are finding application in a variety of areas including precision agriculture, defense, manufacturing, and research. These sensor nodes work under severe resource constraints such as limited computing power, memory, wireless bandwidth, and battery power. Therefore, every activity in wireless sensor networks must be run efficiently without consuming too many resources. The project aims to develop a network management protocol for wireless sensor networks and use it to maintain the effectiveness of a wireless sensor network so that the network operates at optimal performance levels.
