Abstract

The Great Southern Managed Health Network : Collaborative Research Opportunities

The GSMHN is a joint project being run between the UWA Centre for Software Practice and the Great Southern GP Network and is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing. The GSMHN provides a number of services but the principle one being secure messaging between health professionals in private practice and state health. Software developed by the CSP is not only providing secure messaging facilities but is also establishing an infrastructure for the sharing of electronic health records between participants. The architecture for the distributed access to patient data is one of the novel aspects of the software that has been developed for this project. Many interesting research problems remain and these will be discussed in this talk.
